Eyes

LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE THROUGH
More than any other facial feature, your eyes play an important role in the expression of your emotions, and can first show early signs of aging. When your eyes are bright and alert, you appear energized, well rested, and in control. Often, the “bags” or puffiness under your eyes, drooping upper eyelids, wrinkles, or scowling eyebrows make you look older, angrier or more tired than you feel.

Eye rejuvenation options today are much more effective and varied than ever before. Pena MD Studio offers multiple treatments depending on your main concerns. You may benefit from laser treatments, Botox®, dermal fillers or an upper blepharoplasty. A private consultation with Dr. Pena may be required depending on the level of treatment so that an individualized, personal plan can be created for the most effective results.

Available Treatments for Eyes:

Bi-Lateral Upper Blepharoplasty

Often, the eyes are the first part of the face to show signs of aging. Blepharoplasty, the clinical term for eyelid surgery, is performed to counteract the effects of sun damage, heredity and gravity. Dr. Pena performs Upper Blepharoplasty (skin only) to avoid a hollowed-out appearance yet reduce sagging skin above the eye. The upper bleph procedure can be combined with the DermaSculpt Fraxel Laser below the eye to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Additionally, Restylane dermal filler may be used below the eye to alleviate the hollowed, sunken look.

Dr. Pena meets privately with all patients considering an Upper Blepharoplasty, Upper Blepharoplasty with DermaSculpt Fraxel laser and/or Restylane filler below the eye so that an individualized, personal plan can be created to give the most subtle, natural look. It is her goal to use her experience, trained aesthetic eye and knowledge of the face and skin to give individualized and natural-looking options to patients seeking their personal beauty best.

Having blepharoplasty performed is one of the surgeries that immediately takes away the years and can make a dramatic difference. They say the eyes are the windows to the soul, and with your new look, those windows will no longer be droopy and tired—they’ll look wide open and refreshed!

Botox®

Botox® is a simple, non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines and wrinkles on the face. It is approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Restylane®

Dermasweep

The DermaSweep is a state-of-the art non-invasive particle-free microdermabrasion, exfoliation and skin resurfacing treatment. Using the Epi-Infusion option, skin specific solutions, including Vitamin C for anti-aging, kojic acid for hyperpigmentation, salicylic acid for chronic breakouts, or hyaluronic acid for dehydration, are applied directly to skin following the microdermabrasion for fresher, better-looking skin.

Dermasculpt and Laser Treatments

DermaSculpt Fractional Laser – The DermaSculpt Fractional Laser Treatment is designed to address acne scars, scars, wrinkles, uneven pigmentation and wrinkles around the eyes. It treats aging or sun damaged skin by targeting sections of the skin matrix that have been damaged. It then generates microscopic ‘wounds’ within that area, thereby triggering the body’s natural healing response, boosting the production of both collagen and new skin cells.

Intense Pulsed Light Laser - Intense Pulsed Light therapy (IPL) is an effective and efficient treatment for skin pigmentations including brown spots, sun spots, lentigos, and melasma. The IPL is a high energy beam which penetrates the superficial skin layer and is selectively absorbed by the pigmented cells underneath the skin causing them to fragment into minute particles. These minute particles are then removed later on by the body’s systems.

Pulsed Dye Laser - Pulsed dye laser (PDL) is a type of laser therapy used for treatment of age spots, moles, psoriasis and birthmarks. PDL uses a beam of light at a specific wavelength and is used for conditions or spots on the skin which are made up of blood and blood vessels. This laser can be used for all ages and all skin types. Pulsed-dye laser treatments are minimally invasive and may cause bruising which may last a few days.

V-Raser Vascular Laser – The V-Raser laser delivers safe, effective treatment of common high-flow blood vessels, including red and blue vessels especially on the face.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion rejuvenates and revitalizes your skin and stimulates the production of new skin cells and collagen that can improve skin texture. Treatments take approximately 30 minutes and most patients can return to work immediately after having the procedure.

Peels

Glycolic Peel – The Glycolic Peel is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) peel, the mildest of the peel formulas and produces light peels for treatment of fine wrinkles, areas of dryness, uneven pigmentation and acne.

Jessners Peel – The Jessners Peel formula is a combination of salicylic and lactic acids and can be used to lighten areas of hyperpigmentation and to treat aged sun-damaged skin.

Salicylic Peel
– The Salicylic Peel is a Beta Hydroxy Acid (BHA) peel, a mildly aggressive peel formula that helps control oil and acne as well as removes dead skin cells.

Trichloroacetic Acid Peel - The TCA (Trichloroacetic Acid) Peel is an effective intermediate to deep peeling agent, excellent for treating wrinkles, superficial blemishes, pigmentation problems and for rejuvenating the skin. TCA peels are ideally suited for people who have undergone other peel treatments and now require a deeper peel for more effective results.

Vitamin C Peel
- Vitamin C peels are a good option for those looking for a refreshed, radiant appearance but may not yet be ready for a chemical peel. Due to the anti-oxidant properties of vitamin C, this peel helps repair and heal environmentally damaged skin.

Latisse™ Eyelash Treatment

LATISSE™ (bimatoprost ophthalmic solution) 0.03% is a prescription treatment for hypotrichosis used to grow eyelashes, making them longer, thicker and darker. The once-daily prescription treatment is applied to the base of the upper eyelashes with a sterile single-use-per-eye disposable applicator. While individual results may vary, LATISSE™ users can expect to experience results in as little as eight weeks, with significant results in 16 weeks. To maintain effect, continued treatment with LATISSE™ solution is required, and if use of LATISSE™ is discontinued, eyelashes will gradually return to where they were prior to treatment over a period of several weeks to months (average eyelash hair cycle).
